When Foley Really Helps

This was one of my first projects I made in college and the one that I think turned out the best given the time put into it. The script was simple, but silly. Filming this, we encountered a few "happy accidents" such as the soda bottle bursting the way it did which was not planned. We ran with what we got and were able to film it all in one afternoon as the light of day faded. In post production, I as the director worked with the editor to take her rough cut into what it is now. There were some inconsistencies (some that even snuck through to the final) but what was the most glaring was the lack of foley and sound in the rough cut. We did an impromptu foley session right there at her house, recording footsteps, closing trash can lids, and even dubbing over the "thank you" that the man says when he gets one of the muffins. To me, it was those little bits of sound that really made this video work.
