Columbia Memorial Hospital
Manager Jill Tillotson
Filming on a Short Time Window
This was one of the most unique manger videos I made for Columbia Memorial Hospital. Jill happened to not only be the manager of the Emergency Department, but also a working nurse as well. She didn't really want to be filmed, and had the idea to try and show more of a "day-in-the-life" of the clinic by showing a simulated Emergency Department response. She even reached out to the local EMT and we got them in on the video as well. Filming was pretty chaotic and I had to be quick on my feet for this video (filming in an active Emergency Department was a bit uncomfortable and there were also other patients receiving treatment in the rooms around us). I was also on a narrow filming window to boot, so I really only had one chance to get as good of footage as I possibly could. Audio was a bit tricky to get for this video too, and I had to do a decent amount of clean-up in post production as well. In the end, as this was just a video for the Board of Directors, I was pleased with the outcome.
I made countless videos like this while working at Columbia Memorial Hospital. The Board of Directors wanted me to interview each and every manager in our hospital system. The idea was to have the manager of each respective department introduce themself and their department. I often asked the same few questions to each manager. I'd ask them about their challenges, successes and what they liked best about their department. The Board really enjoyed these and often looked forward to seeing two of these each month for over a year. It was a large undertaking, but one that made me efficient with my b-roll as well as good at working with very minimal kit. While not my favorite work, I was proud of the pace that I kept over the course of almost two years making videos like this for the hospital.
