Columbia Memorial Hospital

Crystal and Cardiology

XXX

Working with Crystal was great. Hers was one of the earlier manager videos that I did. The timing worked out well too. Filming with her cardiology clinic allowed me to get some much needed b-roll that I was able to reuse in a few other projects that came up throughout the year. One might notice that there is a slight overlap of footage I captured in this video with other videos I've done for the hospital. Getting b-roll in the clinics was always valuable because getting into the actual clinics where real patients were being cared for was, of course, a bit difficult to do without disturbing others. I always tried to film videos like Crystal's on days that were less busy (and this one was no exception, it was a Thursday or Friday afternoon, if memory serves). I particularly enjoyed the natural light and backdrop for Crystal's interview. The clinic was one of the only ones located on an upper level in the old hospital building, so the light was bright and nice for filming.

I made countless videos like this while working at Columbia Memorial Hospital. The Board of Directors wanted me to interview each and every manager in our hospital system. The idea was to have the manager of each respective department introduce themself and their department. I often asked the same few questions to each manager. I'd ask them about their challenges, successes and what they liked best about their department. The Board really enjoyed these and often looked forward to seeing two of these each month for over a year. It was a large undertaking, but one that made me efficient with my b-roll as well as good at working with very minimal kit. While not my favorite work, I was proud of the pace that I kept over the course of almost two years making videos like this for the hospital.
